Let’s Teach Life, How To Live! - Stories of Celebrity Cancer Survivors

Flashes of cameras, glamour, big crowd, taste of success and failure, launch parties, criticism, media, popularity and much more. This is how their life was going on, when they encountered with the biggest villain of their life CANCER. This unexpected twist of life changed something in everything of their life. But, this drastic change couldn’t take even a single ray of hope and strength from their life.

In fact, there was something which was making them stronger than ever. Undoubtedly, the struggle was exhausting and seemed like an unending tiring journey. Mental trauma and sessions of painful treatments were enough to feed the negative emotions and frustration. But, their willpower was the biggest barrier against all negativities raised by the fatal disease.

But Who Were These Inspiring Warriors? What Are Their Names?

Well! Let’s meet those shimmering stars whose shines are now doubled with the proud of conquering a grievous disease, Cancer.

MANISHA KOIRALA

A Brave Queen Who Conquered Gracefully!

‘There is no bitterness to my cancer experience’.

This is how this undaunted personality talks about her struggle with cancer. A flawless blend of beauty, sophistication, great acting skills and determination power, Manisha Koirala didn’t believe when she heard about her disease. But her family history of cancer, made her believe that this fatal disease has taken its charge on her now.

She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and within two weeks of diagnosis, her treatment started in New York.

It was a six months long process and to distract herself from pain and all kind of negativities she decided to stay surrounded with only positive things and optimist people.

Although at times she felt an intense gloom overshadowing her hopes, but with the unconditional support of her family and a resolute attitude she came out as a victorious queen who fought gracefully and won gracefully. And today one can see her living the life of a winner!

YUVRAJ SINGH

Who Took Cancer’s Wicket On The Very First Ball.

Remember, Six Sixes on Six balls??

The world T20 cricket match of 2007 can never let the world forget those stunning hit shots of Yuvraj Singh!! The stadium was filled with waves of the crazy, happy, loud, crowd. Everyone was amazed and mesmerized with the miracle they saw on the ground. Decidedly, it was a moment of ecstasy and Yuvi was the star of the day!

But today he is a star of life. When he was diagnosed with cancer, just like any other cancer victim, he didn’t believe it to be real. But, truth is always undeniable and in 2011 he went U.S for his chemotherapy. He was diagnosed with mediastinal seminoma. It was a tumour between his heart and his left lung which grew up to 14 centimetres.

Almost three months of chemo were gruelling. He says, I used to crave for water but I couldn’t drink it. Breathing with both the lungs was not possible for me.

He was in a real battle with the disease and was broken from inside. But, somewhere his inborn qualities of a fighter were inspiring him to not to give up and lose hopes. To get the dose of inspiration he used to read the autobiography of Lance Armstrong, the world-famous road racing cyclist who was also diagnosed with the same kind of tumour as of Yuvraj in 1996. Just like him Yuvraj fought the disease with all his strengths and did an amazing comeback in cricket and life too!

LISA RAY

A Brilliant Ray Of Hope!

An angel who look gorgeously fashionable, but holds a very simple heart and an extremely pure soul with an unshakable trust in God and prayer. For anyone, she can be a mingle of beauty and delicacy, but she is a warrior too, who bravely fought cancer and came out of it victoriously.

A successful model, an actress in Bollywood and Hollywood and a philanthropist too. In short, beauty blended with skills. In the summers of 2009 she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (a type of cancer) and just like any other person, it was difficult for her to accept the truth. But gradually she developed herself in a fighter who was all set to encounter the disease and win the battle. Her father was always there to help her realize her own strengths.

Finally, in July 2010, she was declared as a survivor and life saw her rising as a beautiful, firm and brave personality.

Lisa Says

“I’m stubborn. It never occurred to me that I might die; however, I knew it was not going to be easy. I worked hard – using meditation, positive affirmations and healers to reframe my cancer as an experience from which a lesson had to be learnt. I didn’t think of it as a bout of bad karma or a death sentence”

This versatile person is also a writer of a book ‘The Yellow Diaries’. Today she is living an absolutely normal life and chasing her desires with a very positive attitude towards life.

ANURAG BASU

Who Bravely Told Cancer – You Are Not A Part Of My Life Nor My Film Crew!

Acute promyelocytic Leukemia, Yes!! This is what was sitting inside him. It was in 2004 when he was diagnosed with blood cancer. At that time he was working on his film Tumsa Nahi Dekha. Doctore were not very sure about his survival.

But this determined man wrote his life’s script on his own conditions. After 3 long years of chemotherapy and medications, he did a blockbuster comeback in life and in the film industry as well. Even when he was on the bed, he gave instructions to complete his film Tumsa Nahi Dekha. In fact, he even wrote the scripts for the films ‘Life in a Metro’ and ‘Gangster’ which were a big hit on box office. And who else can forget about ‘Barfi’??

Well! He really seems to be an addict of success. Defeating such a fatal disease can’t be an easy thing. But, just like his career, he has shown the strength of his unparalleled efficiencies and will power in life too.

There are many other celebrities who fought their battle with cancer just like a common man. But, it’s not possible to grace their struggle with the limits of writing space. But, at least the message is clear now. Whether a celebrity or a common man, cancer does not discriminate on the basis of status. It can happen to anyone. Early detection, timely treatments, and extraordinary willpower are the only weapons to fight cancer.

So, stay ALERT, stay DETERMINED, stay SAFE!
