November is International Pancreatic Cancer Month, hence we will raise awareness and explain in detail how to fight pancreatic cancer and take care of yourself for the same.

Pancreatic cancer arises when cells in the pancreas start multiplying out of control and form a mass. These have the ability to enter other parts of the body as well. There are many types of pancreatic cancer the most common being pancreatic adenocarcinoma, which accounts for about 85% of the total pancreatic cancer cases, and the term “pancreatic cancer” is sometimes refer only to that type. The adenocarcinomas start within the pancreas which makes digestive enzymes. Many other types of cancer, which collectively represent the majority of the non-adenocarcinomas, also arise from these cells. 1 to 2 percent of cases of pancreatic cancer are named as neuroendocrine tumors, they arise from the hormone-producing cells of pancreas comparatively they are less aggressive than pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Symptoms like Yellow skin, Abdominal / Back pain, Weight loss, Light-colored stools, Dark urine and loss of appetite are related to pancreatic cancer. The worst part about pancreatic cancer is that it can’t be identified at an early stage. Pancreatic cancer can only be diagnosed at a later stage and until then it has already spread over other parts of the body.

People who maintain a healthy diet, Non-smokers, Limited consumer of red or processed meat can save themselves from becoming the prey of this deadly disease. If a smoker quits smoking and return to their normal routine they can reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer. Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Palliative Therapy are ways through which Pancreatic Cancer can be treated, no to forget that the treatment varies according to the different stages of cancer. To cure pancreatic adenocarcinoma, surgery is the only treatment. The disease mostly occurs in developed countries, for instance say, USA is on the fourth spot with the most common cause of deaths from cancer. UK comes to the fifth spot.

Most cases of pancreatic cancer occur after the age of 65-years. Cigarette Smoking, Obesity is top most reasons for pancreatic cancer. Diagnosis method: Medical imaging, blood tests, tissue biopsy.

Take care of yourself, maintain a healthy diet and routine, quit smoking and limit the intake of processed meats to reduce the risk for pancreatic cancer.
