Esophageal cancer


A Kind of disease in which, cancer cells form in the tissues of the esophagus. It is the hollow, muscular tube that moves food and liquid from the throat to the stomach. It basically starts on the inner lining of the esophagus and spread outward through the other layers as it grows.

Excessive smoking and drinking, increases the risk of getting esophageal cancer. Signs and symptoms of esophageal cancer include

  • Difficulty in swallowing.
  • Weight loss.
  • Pain behind the breastbone.
  • Hoarseness and cough.
  • Indigestion and heartburn.

Tests that examine and diagnose the Esophagus cancer are

  • Physical exam and history.
  • Chest x-ray
  • Barium swallow
  • Esophagoscopy
  • Biopsy

There is only one treatment option exist for the recovery from the cancer

  • Prognosis

There is a better chance of recovery if Esophageal cancer found early. At later stages, it can be treated but rarely can be cured.
