Uterine cancer


The most common symptom of uterine cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding which includes a change in menstruation. Other signs and symptoms of uterine cancer include:

  • Unusual vaginal discharge, which can be foul-smelling, pus-like or blood-tinged
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Pelvic pain or pressure
  • Pain or feeling of pressure in the pelvis, lower abdomen, back or legs
  • Pain during urination, difficult urination or blood in the urine
  • Pain or feeling of pressure in the pelvis, lower abdomen, back or legs
  • Pain during bowel movements, difficult bowel movements or blood in the stool
  • Bleeding from the bladder or rectuml
  • Buildup of fluid in the abdomen (called ascites) or in the legs (called lymphedema)
  • Weight loss
  • Lack of appetite
  • Difficulty in breathing

Many of the same tests used to diagnose cancer are used to find out the stage, which is how far, cancer has progressed.

  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Transvaginal ultrasound
  • Biopsy
  • Endoscopy

The treatment of uterine cancer, are same as other cancer treatments that involve

  • Surgery
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation therapy
  • Laparoscopic hysterectomy
  • Laparotomy

Every stage of treatment has their own side effects which include hair loss, body pain and headaches etc. But that is something which a person suffering from cancer has to go. Eating healthy food is a compulsion in order to recover more.
