Chronic Myeloid Leukemia is also known as chronic myelogenous leukemia, it’s a type of cancer which starts in the certain blood-forming cells of the bone marrow. In CML, a genetic change takes place at an early (immature) version of myeloid cells – these are the cells that make red blood cells (RBC), platelets, and most types of white blood cells (WBC) (sparing lymphocytes). This activity forms an abnormal gene known as BCR-ABL, which transforms this cell into a CML cell.

The leukemia cells grow while dividing and building up in the bone marrow, spilling over into the blood. In time, these cells can also settle in other parts of the body, including the spleen. Well CML is slow growing leukemia, but it can also transform into fast-growing acute leukemia that’s very hard to be treated.

Maximum cases of CML have noted to be found in adults, and very rarely in children, too. Though the treatment is the same for them as it is for the adults.

This case of Ramphal suffering from chronic myeloid leukemia came to Dr. Manish Singhal a while ago where the CML was in complete molecular remission on Nilotinib (the treatment of imatinib-resistant chronic myelogenous leukemia.)

He is getting free Nilotinib through his ESI scheme. He is doing well by Gods Grace and the expertise of Dr. Manish Singhal.

He is showing great signs of recovery and we wish him a speedy one.
