HOW IRFAN’S BATTLE WITH CANCER IS AN EPITOME FOR LIFE’S UNCERTAINTY

Critically acclaimed actor and a very good human being acted in movies like Pan Singh Tomar, Piku, Hindi medium, Slumdog millionaire and Qarib Qarib single, earlier this year tweeted that he is suffering from a rare disease and everybody should respect his privacy. As told by him everybody respected his privacy and no one got curious to reveal his disease.

Irfan has now opened up about his illness and revealed, that he is suffering from neuroendocrine tumor*, a new word in his vocabulary and a very rare disease. He disclosed his journey, his treatment and his mindset during the disease.

(* Neuroendocrine tumors are basically tumors formed when abnormal growth occurs in the cells producing hormones and it’s surprising the symptoms of this disease has not been found. It should also be noted that including NEURO it is not a brain disease and it’s related to lungs pancreas)

I had been in a different game, I was traveling on a speedy train ride, had dreams, plans, aspirations, goals, was fully engaged in them. And suddenly someone taps on my shoulder and I turn to see. It’s the TC: “Your destination is about to come. Please get down.” I am confused: “No, no. My destination hasn’t come.” “No, this is it. This is how it is sometimes.”

This is how he describes the journey. He even admits that he blabbered to his son that the only thing he expects from himself is to not be facing this crisis in the present state. And after that pain hit him.

Irfan was diagnosed in London with a hospital just opposite the Lord’s stadium.

I even saw Vivian Richards during the treatment but he was tired & listless. The cancer treatment left me “shocked, afraid and in panic” he added.

The diagnosis was full of pain and he felt like dying but he forgot about all his hassles and found freedom. He felt the power of cosmos there and bravely undergoes the treatment showing cancer his back.

“The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been about.

Learning about that I have diagnosed with the neuroendocrine tumor as of now has admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope. The journey of this is taking me out of the country, and I request everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumor that was floated NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to research. To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell” tweeted Irfan after the long-awaited silence.

Life is uncertain and we can’t control it but we can control how we lead it, the decisions we take effect on our future. We should not fear and face every problem with our best version possible. Irfan showed us if we show only a pinch of braveness, we could solve all problems, after all, we are the sailor of our own ship.

Irfan has thanked everybody for his friends, whom he knows and whom he doesn’t know for staying close to him and praying for him.
